TREATMENT TECHNIQUES
The special qualities that set our systems apart are their
optimal versatility, ease of use, ease of installation and
moving, and the ability to vary their operating cycles to
suit individual needs, without having to design a new
machine.
The G.O.S.T. system totally eliminates all the needs for
under- or above-ground tanks, considerably reducing
installation and operating costs. Since there is no need for
primary tanks, the loading pump is installed directly on the
bottom of the collection pit. As all the solid materials
gradually arrive, up to 1.5 cm, they are bypassed into the
settling tank.
The G.O.S.T. system visually has a compact cubic or
rectangular shape, with smooth sides hinged to the structure
for easy, constant control of its status. The cabinet
containing the treatment system holds: on the left, the
dosing pumps with their reagent containers; in the back, the
gate valves for draining the sludge and the bottom of the
tanks; on the right, the electrical panel for the controls
and commands of the system functions and the electrical
power inlet.

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS
The G.O.S.T. treatment system uses a modular system that may be
described as follows:
-
as it is modular, the technical design can handle any
situation, present or future; as pollution conditions
change, the system can be adapted to any environmental
changes that may occur over time;
-
its compact structure eliminates the need for fixed
settlement tanks for its operation, so the G.O.S.T.
treatment system can be removed from its original position
and used at other sites (this can be very useful for
individuals, such as craftsmen, who might move their
business to a new location, for dumps that are closed
because they are filled to capacity and the treatment system
is moved to a new dump, for needs of local and public
authorities and other entities);
-
the modular design renders the treatment system functional
for any need; each chemical-physical treatment module can
work using five reagents.
HORIZONTAL SYSTEM
We use the term “horizontal” to refer to the quantitative
treatment potential of a system; i.e. where the hourly treatment
need exceeds 10,000 liters/h, it is possible to add modules that
double, triple, and so forth, the amount of water, without a
proportional cost increase, since the added modules are, in
effect, only the expansion of the capacity for containing the
water to be treated.
VERTICAL SYSTEM
We use the term “vertical” to refer a treatment system in
which the effluent to be treated is drawn from the pit and sent
into the upper clarification tank, from which all the treatment
processes take place naturally, i.e. by spillover, until the
process is concluded with filtration.
The absolute construction simplicity also means functional
adaptability, as our chemical-physical system can adapt to
considerable variations in both pollutant reduction and the
reagents used for its treatment processes. The combined
application of the chemical-physical and biological purifiers is
another element that makes G.O.S.T. treatment systems highly
practical.
This integrated system can be applied to any wastewater
treatment situation. The chemical-physical treatment system can
reduce all inorganic polluting agents (e.g., oils and metals),
which are usually the main causes of the malfunctioning of large
and small biological treatment systems. This results in a
preselection process, reducing oily, mineral, metal and other
pollutants, followed by a complete breakdown of the organic
substances by our biological systems.
CONTROL PANEL
Special attention was given to our control panel and its
components. All offer a high degree of protection in compliance
with applicable laws. The system has low electrical power
consumption. All phases, such as loading pump control, treatment
control, and booster pump control, are operated either
automatically or manually.
Upstream of all electrical power is a differential switch with a
0.030 mmA sensitivity.
Each control has a thermal-magnetic circuit breaker for overload
and short circuit protection.
Each motor has its own motor protector with shutdown alarm
light. There is a light for the regular operation of the
treatment cycle, and a shutdown light.
OPERATION SYSTEM
As the water gradually arrives in the pit where the process
effluents flow, the special submersible pump equipped with
floats transfers the effluent containing the polluted parts into
the settling tank. The effluent then goes into the degreasing
tank, where the oily and greasy component is separated; from
there it goes into the first mixing tank, and then into the
second and third, until it arrives at the settling-clarification
tank.
The effluent then overflows and is collected in a tank; by means
of a pump it is then sent into the sewer pit. The polluting
substances held back in the process are transferred into a
thickener, filtration bags, or a percolation bed. This all takes
place automatically through the principle of communicating
vessels and by overflow. The entire stirring and mixing function
is performed with pneumatic stirrers by air insufflation.
COMPUTERIZED SYSTEM
The computerized system uses the same structure and process, but
is set apart by the high technology applied to the process
itself, which can be described as follows: sludge drainage
control with automatic opening and closing of the gate valves
set by the system operational parameters, control of chemical
reagent inlet, end-of-product alarm, no-air alarm, control and
drainage of treated water, a meter to measure the water actually
coming out of the system, and an alarm box for sending alarm
messages to fixed telephone line or mobile phones.

ADVANTAGES OF OUR CHEMICAL-PHYSICAL SYSTEM
·
Simple, rapid installation:
·
The only construction work required is the preparation of a base
on which to set the unit. The electrical power required is
normal mains power (220 V).
·
Energy savings:
·
Our chemical-physical system uses a negligible amount of energy,
necessary for the functioning of small pumps, some for the
dosing of the reagents and others for moving the effluents.
·
Complete wastewater treatment:
·
Our system serves numerous functions, such as a storage tank,
the separation of solids, degreasing with a storage tank for the
recovery of oil, tanks for the addition and mixing of chemical
reagents, settling, clarification, quartz sand filtration, and
activated carbon refining.
·
Total adaptation to different polluting loads:
·
The pH-meter and dosing pumps with their programmable flow rate
let our system adapt to any polluting load present in the
effluents to be treated.
·
Optional components:
·
Our system can be computerized and controlled by the maintenance
department by phone.
ALL THESE FEATURES MAKE THE SYSTEM PARTICULARLY SUITABLE FOR THE
TREATMENT OF INDUSTRIAL EFFLUENTS, SUCH AS THOSE FROM MECHANICAL
SHOPS, SERVICE STATIONS, TANNERIES AND SO FORTH.
